- Allopathic – Medication/intervention prescribed for symptoms. Assumes the body naturally tends towards sickness. No attention to wellness or prevention. Is focused on getting rid of bad things (ex: If you have a cough, take meds to suppress the cough.) Definition of health = you aren’t sick, so you must be healthy. This is the model conventional health care practitioners use.
- Holistic – Looks to optimize function, balance, coordination, and integrity in the whole person (physical, mental emotional, etc.) Assumes the body naturally tends towards health (salutogenesis model). Large focus on wellness and prevention. Is focused on increasing good things as opposed to getting rid of bad things (ex: increase positivity, improve nervous system function, give the body better nutrition, etc). Definition of health = the whole person’s body and mind systems are optimized. This is the model we use in the South Florida Health Alliance.
Pick which model you want to operate under and let us know if you are interested in a Holistic approach. If you are interested in Holistic health care, we will get you started with one of our highly skilled Holistic practitioners to get you started on the right foot.
